eBay appoints Walmart’s Jamie Iannone as new CEO

Online Shopping giant eBay Inc. has appointed Walmart’s executive Jamie Iannone as its new Chief Executive Officer. eBay has appointed Iannone to boost sales and placate activist investors who spent much of the last year advocating for changes at the San Jose-based e-commerce giant. Iannone comes to eBay after a stint at Walmart eCommerce, where he worked as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to that job, Iannone had been CEO of the e-commerce business of Walmart’s Sam’s Club. Iannone is not new to eBay, as he worked at the company from 2001 to 2009 as a Vice President and in other management positions. Iannone will officially become eBay’s CEO on April 27 when he takes over from Scott Schenkel, who has been eBay’s interim chief executive for the last six months.
