Centre gives Twitter last chance to comply with new IT rules

The central government has given a final warning to Twitter regarding the implementation of new digital rules. In the notice sent by the IT Ministry, Twitter has been asked to implement the new rules at the earliest, otherwise it may have to face serious consequences. This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on June 4 with senior IT officials. The government said that if the rules are not followed, the exemption given under Section 79 of the IT Act 2000 will be abolished and Twitter will face action under the IT Act.
