Due to the torrential rains in many states of North-West India including Delhi-NCR, the water level of Yamuna river is rising rapidly. On Friday, the Delhi administration announced an “alert” when the water level of Yamuna reached 205.22 metres, close to the ‘danger mark’ of 205.33 metres. 13 boats have been deployed and 21 others are kept on standby in different areas by the the Irrigation and Flood Control Department. Currently, more water is being released into the Yamuna river from Haryana’s Hathnikund barrage. Therefore, the Delhi Police and East Delhi district administration have started evacuating people living along the Yamuna plains.
