The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to set up a transgender welfare board under the social welfare department. The board will uplift the transgender community in the society. Along with the state government officers, the board would also appoint transgender representatives working for the welfare of the transgender community. The board will also provide ID cards, enroll them in educational institutions, provide them facilities under hostels and housing schemes of the state government.
