Supreme Court seeks reply in post-election violence in West Bengal

Supreme Court today heard a petition on post-election violence in West Bengal and issued notice to the Central Government, West Bengal Government and the Election Commission. The petition has demanded SIT probe to look into the causes of the violence. The Fact- finding committee has submitted its report to the Union Home Ministry on the violence in West Bengal after the results of the assembly elections this year. The report said that the violence was carried out in West Bengal as part of a well-planned conspiracy. The report said that supporters of a particular party were targeted during the violence.
