Municipal polls in Goa postponed for three months

Even though COVID-19 infection cases have reduced significantly in India and vaccination has also started, various state governments are still being vigilant of the situation. In view of this, the Goa State Election Commission has postponed elections for 11 municipal councils of Panaji and by-elections for various gram panchayats for three months. Earlier these elections were to be held on October 18, 2020, but the Commission had postponed them for three months due to the pandemic. The commission said in a statement issued on Monday that elections for 11 municipal councils, corporation elections in Panaji city, by-elections for wards of various gram panchayats and elections for Navelim (South Goa) district panchayat constituency have been postponed till April 2021.
