Mumbai farewells Lord Ganesh in a subdued manner amidst pandemic

On the 10th-day of the Ganeshotsav festival, that marks its culmination, Lord Ganesh idols were immersed in a low and subdued manner. Due to pandemic, devotees in Mumbai immersed their Ganesh idols either at their homes or in artificial ponds. More than 35,000 police personnel were deployed across the city. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had made special arrangements for incident-free immersion of Ganesh idols. According to sources, a total of 492 idols, 16 from public pandals and 476 installed by residents at home, were immersed at various Visarjan (Immersion) points.
