Maharashtra government announces free treatment for Mucormycosis patients

A fatal fungal disease Mucormycosis is being reported among the people who have been cured of the coronavirus infection. Taking action, the Maharashtra government has announced that it will provide free treatment to the patients of Mucormycosis. State Health Minister Rajesh Tope informed on Monday that Mucormycosis patients will be treated for free in 1000 hospitals of the state under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana as the drugs needed for this fungal infection treatment are quite costly. He also said that the symptoms of this disease have been observed in COVID-19 patients who also have uncontrolled diabetes.
