Lockdown in Madhya Pradesh extended till May 15 due to high COVID cases

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan announced on Thursday that his government has decided to extend the ‘Janata curfew’ by May 15 in the state. Chauhan has instructed the officials to impose restrictions without any laxity. He has also appealed people to postpone marriages to avoid gatherings. On May 5, there were total 89,244 active cases of coronavirus in the state. He informed that as of April 21, Madhya Pradesh was at 7th position in the case of highest infected states in the country, but today, it is at number 14. The positivity rate has reached 18% and the recovery has reached 85.13% in the state.
