The Kolkata Metro has decided to operate 66 special trains for the students appearing in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) on September 13. According to sources, the students who do not have smart cards will be issued paper tickets to travel. The Metro trains will run between 11 am and 7 pm for NEET candidates. Earlier, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee had said that out of the 4,652 students who were to appear in the JEE exams in West Bengal on September 1, only 1,167 appeared. The remaining candidates could not appear due to lack of public transport amid the pandemic.
