Iron bridge collapsed on Ampi-AmarPur road

By Shyamsundar Datta, Tripura State: The road communication on Ampi – AmarPur main road has been destroyed for breaking the iron bridge in Twichen village today. The old iron bridge on Ampi nagar-Amar Pur road at Twichen village under Ampi nagar RD block, Gumati Tripura has been collapsed last night. In this situation the vehicle movement has been stopped. This road is very essential in every day for the people of Teliamura, Ampi nagar, Amar Pur and Udai Pur. All bus services have been cancelled for this broken bridge. It seems that if the concerned authority does not take quick initiative to repair the bridge then it would be very troublesome for the people of this entre area. Reportedly this road was under PWD earlier but now it is under National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited. As per the locals during a very heavy loaded truck crossing time this bridge has been collapsed but somehow that truck has managed to pass the bridge. People said that the previous PWD authority of Ampi branch had given a warning board aside the bridge over its bearing capacity but at present that board is disappeared. The NHIDCL authority should take immediate initiative to create an alternative temporary bridge aside the collapsed iron bridge to sustain vehicle movement active and then commence a new solid RCC bridge construction for the better communication management, demanded the people of the locality.
