Himanta Biswa Sarma will be the 15th Chief Minister of Assam. On Sunday evening, he met Governor Jagdish Chandra Mukhi and claimed to form the government. 52-year-old Sarma and his cabinet ministers will be sworn-in the oath of office and secrecy at 12 PM on Monday. Earlier, he was elected the leader of the BJP Legislative Party and then the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Legislative Party. Sarma termed his predecessor Sarbananda Sonowal‘s tenure corruption-free and said he would continue to be his ‘guide’. The present NDA government is the first non-Congress government in the state that has won the election for the second time in a row.
