Heavy rains lashed Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) on Friday, leading to waterlogging in many parts of the city. Low-lying localities of Malad, Santacruz, Dahisar and the roads of Dadar, Parel, Wadala, Sion have been completely submerged by the incessant rains. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert forecasting heavy rains in parts of Mumbai, Thane and Palghar. IMD alerted that there is a possibility of light to moderate rain and torrential rains at some places in Mumbai and its suburbs for the next 24 hours.
