Union Minister Anurag Thakur informed the decision of PM Modi’s Cabinet that a Central University will be established in the Union Territory of Ladakh at a cost of Rs 750 crores. It will also act as a model for other educational institutions in Ladakh and cover the entire jurisdiction. He said that a decision has been taken to set up an Integrated Multipurpose Corporation (IMC) for the crucial work and infrastructure construction in Ladakh like tourism, development of transport facilities, industries and local products marketing. Brought under the Companies Act, the IMC will have a budget of up to Rs 25 crore.
