Allahabad High Court directs complete lockdown in five cities of UP

In view of the rapidly rising COVID-19 infection cases, the Allahabad High Court has ordered lockdown from 19 April to 26 April in five of the most affected cities of Uttar Pradesh during a video conferencing hearing today. The High Court has directed lockdown till April 26 in Lucknow, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Kanpur Nagar and Gorakhpur. In its 15-page directive, the court has asked the state government to ban all activities (except essential services) in these five cities. The High Court has also asked the state government to consider a 15-day lockdown in the entire state.
