Cricketer Umar Akmal’s three-year ban halved on his appeal

Pakistan‘s cricketer Umar Akmal can resume playing in August, 2021 as his three-year ban was halved to eighteen-months on Wednesday. He was banned from playing after failing to report a match-fixing approach in April this year. After the reduction of his ban period by a Pakistan court, Umar told media he was unfairly treated as other players got lesser punishment on the same charge. He added, “I will consult my lawyers and then try to get it reduced further.”
