Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Oscar Fernandes passed away on Monday. 80-year-old Oscar Fernandes breathed his last in Mangaluru, Karnataka. He was ailing for a long time and was admitted to a hospital for a few weeks. He had also suffered an injury while doing yoga this year, after which his health deteriorated. He had been the Minister of Transport, Roads and Highways and Labor and Employment during the tenure of the UPA government at the Centre. He had also served as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Labor and Employment during UPA 1. Currently, he was a Rajya Sabha MP from Karnataka.
