AK Sharma, a former IAS officer and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aide, has been named as the state vice-president of BJP in UP. He was appointed as an MLC in February after resigning from the IAS and joining politics. Earlier, it was speculated that he may join UP CM Yogi’s cabinet and become the Deputy Chief Minister. AK Sharma, who hails from UP’s Mau district, has been very active in Uttar Pradesh after his appointment as MLC. He was engaged in COVID-19 control campaign in various districts, especially PM Modi’s constituency Varanasi. BJP spokesperson Manish Shukla said that the appointment will strengthen the party and the organization.
