In India, children aged 12 to 18 years can start getting Zydus Cadila’s coronavirus vaccine from September. The results of Zydus Cadila’s vaccine trials on children are expected to be available before September. Dr. NK Arora, head of the National Expert Group on Vaccine (NTAGI), said that the Zydus vaccine could be flagged off within a few weeks under emergency use. Bharat Biotech’s vaccine for children in India, Covaxin, may also be available soon. The Phase 3 trial of Covaxin has begun and is expected to be completed by the end of September. This means vaccination of children for 2 to 18 years can start in the country from October to December or mid-January.
