Zydus Cadila’s COVID-19 vaccine likely to be available by August

Amidst the increasing cases of Delta Plus variant of the coronavirus and the possibility of a third wave, the vaccination drive among the elderly as well as vaccine preparations for children have been intensified in the country. Dr. NK Arora, President of the COVID Working Group, said on Sunday that the trial of Zydus Cadila’s vaccine is almost complete and by the end of July or in August, vaccination of 12-18 year olds can be started. Earlier, AIIMS Chief Randeep Guleria had said that the arrival of vaccine for children will be a milestone. This will give way for the reopening of schools and starting outdoor activities. Zydus Cadila can apply to DCGI for emergency use approval of its vaccine ZyCoV-D.
