Sushil Chandra takes charge as the Chief Election Commissioner of India

Sushil Chandra has assumed office as the 24th Chief Election Commissioner of the country on Tuesday. On April 12, the government of India had named Sushil Chandra as the new CEC. Earlier, Sunil Arora was holding the responsibility of this post. Newly-appointed Sushil Chandra will remain on this post till 13 May, 2022. Prior to joining the Election Commission, he had served as the chairman of CBDT. Election Commission headed by Chandra will conduct assembly elections in Manipur, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab and UP.
