Supreme Court questions Centre on COVID-19 vaccine policy, CoWin registration

The Supreme Court today questioned Centre about the dual pricing policy of the coronavirus vaccine and the compulsory registration on CoWin portal for vaccination. Supreme Court Justices DY Chandrachud, L Nageswara Rao and S Ravindra Bhat heard the suo moto case on COVID-19 related issues on Monday. Facing constant criticism over slow-roll out of vaccine and difference in vaccine prices, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that by the end of 2021, the entire population of the country is expected to be vaccinated. The court then raised the problems of vaccine shortage and vaccine registration in rural areas. The government has been given two weeks to file an affidavit in response to the raised concerns.
