Subject Expert Committee approves Sputnik V in India

The emergency use of Russian vaccine SPUTNIK V has been approved in India. The effectiveness of this vaccine produced in India by Dr. Reddy’s Lab of Hyderabad is 91.6%, which is highest after Moderna and Pfizer shots. India has approved it as the third vaccine in the fight against COVID-19 after Covishield and Covaxin. The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) of the Indian drug regulator met today to approve the emergency use of Sputnik V and considered the results of its clinical trial. During the last meeting on 1 April, the Subject Expert Committee had asked Dr. Reddy’s lab to submit data on all immunogenicity parameters of the vaccine.
