The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that the welfare schemes for orphans should also cover those children who have lost their parents during COVID-19 and not only those children who have been orphaned due to the pandemic. Also, the apex court today reprimanded several states for not providing information about orphans despite clear orders. The court directed the states to take the help of every department, including child care helpline, police, Anganwadi workers, to collect information about orphaned children. The next hearing of the case will be conducted on August 6.
