SC gives 10 years to telecom giants to clear their AGR dues

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court gave a time period of 10 years to telecom companies to clear their Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues of about Rs.1.6 lakh crore. The apex court, benched by Justice Arun Mishra said the telecom firms will have to pay 10 % of dues by 2021 due to COVID-19 situation and the remaining can be paid in installments by March 31, 2031. If any telecom company fails to repay the amount, then it will be punishable for contempt of court.
