Coronavirus-infected patients will no longer be treated with Convalescent Plasma Therapy (CPT). The Indian Council of Medical Research’s National Task Force has excluded it from the COVID-19 treatment protocol. Last year, when COVID-19 cases had started surfacing in India, plasma therapy was found effective in its treatment. Many patients had recovered due to CPT. However, ICMR now says that plasma therapy is no longer as effective as it was in the first wave of coronavirus in India. In CPT, antibodies from the blood of a recovered COVID-19 patient are used to treat serious patients of the disease.
