Indian Navy receives third Scorpene-Class Submarine INS Karanj

The Indian Navy will commission the third Scorpene-Class Submarine INS Karanj in Mumbai on 10 March. Navy has already inducted two submarines named INS Kalvari and INS Khanderi. INS ‘Karanj’, launched in early 2018, is the third submarine made by Mazgaon Dock Shipbuilders Limited under the program ‘Project-75’. INS Karanj is an indigenous submarine built under Make in India initiative of the government. The submarine is 67.5 meters long, 12.3 meters high and weighs 1565 tonnes. Mazgaon Dock Shipbuilders Limited is one of India’s premier shipyards that caters to the needs and aspirations of the Indian Navy at full capacity.
