Farmer leaders turn down government’s proposal, next meeting to be held on Jan 22

The 10th round of talks between the central government and farmers regarding new agricultural laws have ended. The 11th meeting will be held on January 22, 2021. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Union Minister Piyush Goyal hold the talks with the farmers at Vigyan Bhawan. After the meeting, the farmer leaders said that the government proposed to suspend the laws for a year and a half. In response, the farmers said that there is no point in suspending the laws and made it clear that they want the laws to be repealed entirely. The Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar also proposed the formation of a committee, which would consist of members of the government and the farmers.
