EC to hold Rajya Sabha bypolls for six seats in West Bengal, Assam and other states on October 4

The Election Commission has announced the dates for the by-elections for six Rajya Sabha seats. Voting for these seats will be held on October 4. The Election Commission will conduct by-elections for one each in West Bengal, Assam, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh and two seats in Tamil Nadu. Along with this, the by-elections for the assembly council seat in Bihar will be held on October 4. Apart from 6 seats of Rajya Sabha, by-elections are also to be held for Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha in 16 states in the country. The Election Commission had asked the state governments to give their feedback on the timing and manner of elections so that arrangements can be made in view of Coronavirus pandemic.
