The Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) on Wednesday successfully test-fired the indigenously developed Low Weight, ‘Fire and Forget’ Man Portable Anti-tank Guided Missile (MPATGM). It was launched from a man portable launcher integrated with a thermal sight and the target was hit in direct attack mode. The missile is equipped with state-of-the-art Miniature Infrared Imaging Seeker with advanced avionics. India has been promoting indigenous manufacturing in the defense sector. 119 defense proposals worth Rs 2,15,690 crore have been approved in the last three financial years by central government.
