The first batch of Covishield vaccine has reached 13 cities in the country, including the capital Delhi, amid preparations for vaccination drive against coronavirus infection. Flights were operated from Pune with 56.5 lakh doses of Covishield of Serum Institute Of India (SII). The Serum Institute is producing vaccines manufactured by Oxford-AstraZeneca in India. Vaccination in the country will start from January 16. The vaccine will be available to the government at Rs 200 per dose and Rs 1,000 in the private market. Drug regulator of India DCGI has recently approved the emergency use of two vaccines. These include Covishield of Serum Institute and Covaxin of Bharat Biotech. Covaxin is a completely indigenous vaccine.
