Centre extends Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Scheme till Diwali

In view of the second wave of coronavirus, the central government had announced the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana (PMGKAY) for poor families in April 2021. Under this scheme, the central government provided 5 kg additional food grains (rice/wheat) per person free of cost to the ration card holders in May and June. Now, the government has extended this scheme till Diwali. This extension of free ration scheme was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to the nation today. More than 80 crore ration card holders will benefit from the scheme.
