Centre asks states to re-impose restrictions in districts with over 10% COVID-19 positivity rate

After the increase in new cases of coronavirus and the positivity rate in many states, the central government has asked to consider re-imposing the COVID-19 restrictions. Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan held a high level meeting with 10 state heads on Saturday. The Health Secretary asked the representatives of Kerala, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Assam, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Andhra Pradesh and Manipur to consider stricter restrictions for all districts reporting a positivity rate of more than 10% in the last few weeks. The ministry said that any relaxation at this stage could worsen the situation in these districts.
