Centre approves 27% reservation for OBCs and 10% for economically weaker section in medical education

The central government has approved reservation for OBC and economically weaker section (EWS) students in admission to medical colleges. Now in the admission of MBBS, BDS and post graduate, diploma level medical courses, 27% reservation will be given to the students of Other Backward Classes while 10% reservation will be given to the students of economically weaker sections. This decision will be applicable from the current academic session 2021-22 under the All India Reservation Scheme. Anupriya Patel and other OBC MPs and ministers had met PM Modi on Wednesday to discuss the issue.
