Central government’s AEFI panel confirms first death in India after COVID-19 vaccination

A government panel studying the side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine in the country has confirmed the death of a person after vaccination. This is the first confirmed death in India due to the coronavirus vaccine. The AEFI (Advance Events Following Immunization) committee has confirmed the death of a 68-year-old man from anaphylaxis, a type of allergic reaction. AEFI Chairman Dr. NK Arora said that it is advised to stay at the vaccination center for 30 minutes after the vaccination. He said that side effects are often observed during this period, after which it can be controlled with immediate treatment. Earlier, three people were said to have died due to vaccine, but the government panel has confirmed only one case.
