Yoshihide Suga elected as Japan’s new Prime Minister

Yoshihide Suga has been elected as the new leader of Japan’s ruling party. With this, Suga succeeds as the new Prime Minister after Shinzo Abe‘s resignation due to health issues. Yoshihide Suga received 377 votes from lawmakers and regional representatives. While the other two contenders got combined 157 votes. According to sources, another parliamentary voting will take place on Wednesday.
