COVID-19 infection has caused havoc all over the world and lakhs of people have been killed so far leading to lakhs of children becoming orphans during this period. So far, 1.5 million children around the world have lost their parents or one of them due to the coronavirus pandemic. This figure has been revealed in a new study published in The Lancet. According to the report, out of this total figure, one lakh 90 thousand children are from India who have lost one of their parents, custodial grandparents or grandparents during the period. Experts have estimated that the number of children in orphanages in India increased by 8.5 times between March 2021 and April 2021.
