Nepal: Supreme Court orders appointment of Sher Bahadur Deuba as Prime Minister

In a major setback to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, the Supreme Court of Nepal has restored the dissolved House of Representatives for the second time within five months. On Monday, the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court ordered the appointment of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba as Nepal’s Prime Minister within two days. President Bidya Devi Bhandari on May 22, had announced mid-term elections on November 12 and November 19 after dissolving the 275-member lower house for the second time in five months on the recommendation of Prime Minister Oli.
