US-based medical device company Johnson & Johnson said its COVID-19 vaccine experiment has temporarily been paused after one of the trial participant fell ill. The online enrollment system has now been shut for the 60,000-patient clinical trial. The company stated, “We have temporarily paused further dosing in all our Covid-19 vaccine candidate clinical trials, including the Phase 3 ENSEMBLE trial, due to an unexplained illness in a study participant.” Similarly, Astrazeneca Plc had stopped its COVID-19 vaccine trial in the US.
