India elected to UN Economic and Social Council for the term of 2022 to 2024

India has been elected to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), one of the six divisions of the United Nations, for the term 2022-2024. In the elections held on Monday, India joined as a member of this council in the Asia Pacific region. T S Tirimurti, Ambassador of India to the United Nations, expressed gratitude to all those who voted in favor of India. This council plays an important role in the achievement of various goals of the United Nations and it is also responsible for meetings and conferences of the United Nations. Also, India is currently serving as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the year 2021-22.
