Odisha: Toxic gas leak kills four at Rourkela steel plant

A major accident occurred on Wednesday at Rourkela Steel Plant in Odisha. Four people died due to leakage of toxic gas from a unit of the plant, while six people have become ill. Police officials said that after the leakage of poisonous carbon monoxide gas, four workers engaged in maintenance work in the coal chemical department of Rourkela’s steel plant died on Wednesday morning. Rourkela SP Mukesh Kumar Bhamu said that the incident happened around 7:30 am. RSP CEO Deepak Chatraraj has assured all possible help to the families of the deceased workers. A high-level inquiry has been ordered into the tragic incident.
