Former Union Minister in NDA government, Dilip Ray has been sentenced to three year imprisonment over his involvement in the irregularities in the allocation of Brahmadiha coal block in Jharkhand’s Giridih in the year 1999. Two other individuals have also been convicted for their role in the scam by CBI. A fine of Rs.10 lakhs each against all convicted individuals have been pronounced by the court. Dilip Ray was accused in criminal conspiracy this month by the same court. The CBI had sought life imprisonment for all the accused to send a message to the society against white collar crimes.
