In the fire incident that broke out in an under-construction building at Pune’s Manjari plant of Serum Institute of India (SII) on Thursday afternoon, five deaths have been reported so far. The dead are speculated to be construction workers. According to Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol, many people were evacuated from the building and after the fire was controlled, five dead bodies were found. The cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet. Ten fire tenders were rushed immediately at the spot. A team of National Disaser Response Force (NDRF) has also been deployed at the fire site. SII CEO Adar Poonawalla expressed condolences on the loss of lives.
