Fire breaks out at Serum Institute of India campus in Pune

A major fire broke out at the Serum Institute of India on Thursday in Pune, Maharashtra. The cause of the fire has not been identified yet. Ten vehicles of the fire brigade have reached the spot to douse the fire at Terminal gate number one of the institute. The fire has engulfed second, third, fourth and fifth floors of the under-construction building. No loss of life or property has been reported yet and 4 people have been rescued so far. Serum Institute has developed the DCGI-authorized vaccine Covishield against COVID-19. According to sources, the fire incident occurred at the Manjari plant of the Serum Institute. The fire will not affect the production of the vaccine.
