The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert in Mumbai on Friday. This decision comes after heavy rainfall lashed Mumbai and its suburban areas. The red alert has been issued for upcoming June 13 and June 14. According to IMD, residents have been advised to stay at home during heavy weather. The IMD’s Santacruz weather station reported that Mumbai received 137 mm of rain till 5.30 pm on Friday, 37 mm more than that of Thursday. It is also said that rainfall between 115.6-204.4 mm is considered as ‘very heavy’.
