Mental health awareness, suicide prevention program now available across CJHL

Bill Chow remembers what conversations surrounding mental health entailed during his youth. For the most part, there weren’t any. “You didn’t talk about mental health when I was in school,” said the 62-year-old president of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. “You were weak if you talked about it. And if you reached out for help, you were weak.” Times have changed, and there’s a greater societal understanding of the issue. Fewer people suffer in silence. It’s a little easier to speak up and seek help.
