Canal dam cut, farmers’ crop submerged in water

When the farmers were facing a lot of difficulties in irrigation of Siddharthnagar crops, the Saryu canal section four Balrampur released water into the canal. Farmers started to irrigate the crop. On Sunday, the bond formed on Bhadariya scape was cut. Departmental officials say that the Chaura Banagwa gate also gets water from the township division. Due to the closure of the gate, the canal was overflowed and the farmers of 12 villages associated with Bhadaria scape have to bear the brunt. For the past years, work was going on to put a gate on Bhadria scape. The bridge was built but could not find a gate yet. As the water overflowed, the dam broke and dozens of village wheat, mustard, peas, potato crops were submerged. Under Engineer Saryu Canal Block IV Sujit Kumar Mehta said that efforts are being made to repair the dam.
