On Saturday, the Hajj Committee of India has rejected all the applications received for this year’s pilgrimage. Saudi Arabia had announced that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s Haj pilgrimage will be limited to 60,000 people and all of them will be local. Last year, only about one thousand people of Saudi Arabia were selected for Hajj. Under normal circumstances, about 20 lakh Muslims perform Hajj in Mecca every year. This year Haj will begin in mid-July, according to the official statement.
