There are currently four lakh 25 thousand consumers in the district. Of these, there are 87 thousand urban consumers. A lump sum solution scheme is being run by the department for the consumers of domestic and private tube wells. Under this, the entire interest charged on the bill till January 31 is waived if the consumer submits the outstanding bill. Consumers can avail the scheme by registering online. According to the departmental data, so far 47 thousand 500 consumers have been given benefit of the scheme in the district. The department has given a discount of Rs 14.76 crore to these consumers. Of this, the distribution block first has given a discount of Rs 3.60 crore, the second Rs 4.56 crore, Shahabad Rs 4.06 crore and Sandila Rs 2.64 crore. Superintending Engineer NK Mishra said that consumers can avail the scheme till April 15. 100 percent of their interest will be waived.
