Zomato and Swiggy to soon start drone-delivery

Indian food-delivery platforms Zomato and Swiggy will soon be starting drone-delivery amid COVID-19 lockdown. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has permitted the companies for test-flight of the “Beyond Visual Line Of Sight” (BVLOS) drones for deliveries. The DGCA has only allowed Spice Jet and Reliance Asteria Aerospace and other 13 companies to fly drones in India. According to sources, the delivery companies are planning to test short-range drones that can travel up to 5km carrying 3kg load.
